Police in Lahore are investigating the death of an 18-year-old girl after an initial probe suggested she had been subjected to abuse inside her home before her death. The victim, identified as Maham, was allegedly killed by her father and two brothers, according to the preliminary account shared by investigators.

Officials said the initial postmortem supported allegations of sexual abuse. Investigators have accused the victim's father and two brothers of abusing her, while also examining whether torture and prolonged mistreatment played a role in the events that led to her death.

According to the investigation so far, Maham's mother died a few months after her birth, after which she was raised by her paternal aunt. Police said the alleged abuse began while she was living at her aunt's house, before she later returned to her father's home.

Investigators further alleged that after Maham moved back to her father's residence, her father abused her and her brothers later did the same. Police also alleged that she had been repeatedly burned with a heated iron rod, indicating a pattern of severe physical violence that is now part of the case review.

On the day of the incident, police said the suspects were allegedly torturing Maham when she died. The case is therefore being examined not only as a killing but also as a matter involving alleged domestic violence, abuse and possible additional offences once final medical and forensic findings are available.

Authorities said more legal sections may be added after the detailed postmortem and forensic reports are received. That means the final shape of the case will depend on laboratory evidence, medical conclusions and the investigation record gathered from the crime scene, witnesses and suspects.

The case has drawn attention because it involves allegations of abuse inside a family setting, an area where victims can face extreme isolation and limited access to outside help. For investigators, the next steps will be to establish the sequence of events, preserve forensic evidence and determine the role of each accused person under the law.

Police have not yet presented the final medical findings publicly, so the current account remains based on the initial investigation. The formal prosecution will depend on whether investigators can support the allegations through postmortem results, forensic analysis, witness statements and other admissible evidence.
