PCB Opens Search for New Pakistan Bowling Coach as Noffke Exits

The Pakistan Cricket Board has started the process of appointing a new bowling coach for the national men’s team following Ashley Noffke’s decision to leave his role after the 2026 Asian Games. The Australian coach is expected to complete his current assignment with Pakistan before moving on from the setup after a tenure of roughly 16 months.

Noffke joined Pakistan’s coaching staff in May 2025 and worked primarily with the national side’s bowling unit. During his time with the team, he also took on additional responsibilities in the Test setup, including an interim role during Pakistan’s recent tour of England following changes to the coaching structure.

Pakistan’s men’s team is scheduled to enter the Asian Games cricket competition directly at the quarter-final stage on September 28 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Noffke is expected to remain with the squad through that campaign before formally ending his association with the national team.

The board has advertised the vacant position and set qualification requirements for prospective candidates. Applicants are required to hold at least a Level 3 coaching accreditation and have a minimum of five years of coaching experience. Applications will remain open until October 8, giving the board a limited window to assess candidates before Pakistan’s next major assignments.

Noffke, a former Australian international cricketer, represented his country in one One-Day International and two Twenty20 Internationals during his playing career. His coaching career later included work in domestic and international cricket before he joined Pakistan’s setup as part of the support staff assembled for the national side.

His departure comes during a period of transition for Pakistan cricket following a demanding international schedule. The national team recently completed a Test series in England, where changes were made to the bowling coaching responsibilities during the tour. Pakistan lost the three-match series 3-0, adding further attention to the structure and performance of the team’s coaching unit.

The incoming bowling coach will be expected to work across Pakistan’s red-ball and white-ball programmes and help develop both established international bowlers and emerging talent. The appointment will also be important as the team prepares for future bilateral series and major international tournaments where consistency in fast bowling, spin strategy and workload management will remain key priorities.

The next step will be the completion of the application process and selection of shortlisted candidates. The board is expected to evaluate coaching qualifications, international experience and the ability to work within Pakistan’s evolving team-management structure before making a final appointment.
