Adiala Jail Report Updates Supreme Court on Imran Khan Health
Adiala Jail authorities submitted a detailed report to the Supreme Court on Monday, August 17, concerning Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan’s health condition and his jail meetings. The report was filed in Islamabad by the superintendent of Adiala Jail as the court reviewed matters linked to the former prime minister’s medical care and access to meetings during incarceration.
According to the report, the jail administration informed the Supreme Court that Imran Khan is being allowed regular meetings with his wife every Tuesday in accordance with jail rules. Authorities stated that 84 such meetings have taken place so far, presenting the figure as evidence that the meeting schedule has been maintained under the official prison framework.
The two-page report was accompanied by 24 pages of newspaper clippings and a record of medical checkups conducted over time. Jail officials also told the court that Imran Khan’s food and drinking arrangements are checked three times a day, while multiple government doctors have examined him during his stay in prison.
The report further stated that an eye specialist has been providing treatment to Imran Khan and that one of his eyes has become almost normal. A medical summary covering the period from November 4, 2023, to August 10, 2026, was also included, listing consultations and checkups by 39 different medical specialists.
Adiala Jail authorities requested the Supreme Court to dispose of the case in light of the submitted material. The report also referred to a previous undertaking by Salman Akram Raja before the high court, in which he had reportedly said that media talk would not be held within the jail premises after meetings.
According to the jail administration, that undertaking was later violated when media interaction took place despite the court’s direction. This point appears to have been included to support the jail authorities’ position that the prison management has followed rules while concerns around public statements and post-meeting media activity remain relevant.
The case carries strong political significance because Imran Khan’s health, jail conditions and meeting access have remained recurring issues in Pakistan’s political and legal debate. PTI leaders and supporters have repeatedly raised concerns about his treatment, while government and prison authorities have maintained that procedures are being followed under the law.
The submission before the Supreme Court may influence how the matter proceeds legally, especially if the court considers the medical record and meeting schedule sufficient for resolving the petition.
