Riyadh Air Begins Pakistan Flights, Boosting Saudi Connectivity
Riyadh Air’s first flight from Saudi Arabia has arrived at Islamabad International Airport, marking the start of the airline’s operations to Pakistan and opening a new chapter in air connectivity between the two countries. The arrival was confirmed on Saturday as officials described the flight as an important development for travel, trade and people-to-people links.
The flight came from Riyadh and was received in Islamabad in the presence of Saudi diplomatic and commercial officials, along with representatives from Pakistan’s defence, aviation and airport authorities. Saudi Press Attaché Dr Saif Nasser Almashali said the arrival of the airline’s first flight represented another step in strengthening bilateral relations. The event was also attended by Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki, Director General of Protocol Abdulaziz Al-Ghamdi and Commercial Attaché Naif Al-Harbi, reflecting the diplomatic importance attached to the route.
Dr Almashali described the development as a fresh move that would further reinforce Saudi-Pakistani ties. His remarks placed the flight beyond routine airline expansion, linking it instead with broader cooperation between two countries that maintain deep political, economic and social connections.
For Pakistan, additional direct air links with Saudi Arabia carry practical value because millions of Pakistani workers live in the kingdom, while thousands of families regularly travel between the two countries. Saudi Arabia is also one of the most important destinations for Pakistani pilgrims performing Umrah and Hajj, making air access a central part of the relationship.
