Rajab Butt Booked Over Alleged Lahore Café Attack on Women
Lahore police have registered a criminal case against prominent TikToker Rajab Butt and several alleged accomplices following accusations that women were assaulted and gunfire was opened during a confrontation at a café. The case was recorded by Nawab Town police after a complaint concerning the incident, which reportedly took place on July 25.
The complainant, identified as Ayesha Jutt, told police that she had gone to a local café with friends for a meal. According to her account, two men and two women at the venue began harassing one of her companions, leading members of her group to intervene and ask them to stop.
Jutt alleged that the dispute escalated when the individuals responded with abusive language and one of them slapped her friend. The complaint presents the confrontation as an unprovoked act of harassment and violence, although investigators have yet to publicly disclose independent evidence establishing the sequence of events.
The complainant further accused a man identified as Mir Shafi of drawing a pistol and firing during the altercation. She also alleged that Rajab Butt was present and participated in physically attacking her and another woman. The initial police report did not include a public response from Butt or the other people named in the complaint.
Nawab Town police registered the case under Sections 354, 506(B) and 337-H(2) of the Pakistan Penal Code. Authorities said an investigation had been initiated, meaning officers will now be responsible for examining the allegations, identifying everyone involved and determining whether the available evidence supports further legal action.
Investigators are expected to seek material that could verify or challenge the competing accounts, including surveillance footage from the café, statements from customers and employees, mobile-phone recordings and any physical evidence linked to the alleged firing. Police may also examine whether a weapon was recovered, legally licensed or connected through forensic analysis to any spent cartridges found at the location.
The registration of a case marks the beginning of the criminal investigation rather than a determination of guilt. Any allegations against Butt and the other suspects will need to be tested through evidence, questioning and, where applicable, court proceedings. The accused retain the right to present their version of events and challenge the complaint through the legal process.
Butt, who commands a substantial following on social-media platforms, has previously attracted public attention because of separate legal controversies. His prominence means the latest allegations are likely to circulate rapidly online, increasing pressure on authorities to conduct a transparent investigation while avoiding conclusions driven by viral posts or unverified claims.
The case also renews debate about the responsibilities of digital celebrities whose large audiences can turn private disputes into national conversations within hours. Public visibility does not place an individual above the law, but it also does not remove the protections of due process, making careful reporting and evidence-based investigation especially important.
Police are expected to determine whether the suspects should be summoned, detained or formally charged after reviewing the available material. Further clarity will depend on witness testimony, video evidence and statements from those accused, while any final decision on criminal responsibility will rest with the courts.
