Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister-elect Amjad Hussain Advocate is scheduled to take oath on July 1 at a formal ceremony in Gilgit, marking a new political phase for the region. Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is expected to attend the ceremony along with other senior PPP leaders. His expected presence gives the event added political significance, as the party looks to consolidate its position in the region following Amjad Hussain’s election.
Amjad Hussain Advocate was elected unopposed as Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan on June 22 after receiving the support of assembly members. The upcoming oath will formally activate his tenure and allow the new administration to begin setting out its immediate governance priorities.
