Iran Praises Pakistan’s Role After Islamabad Peace Accord

ISLAMABAD: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has praised Pakistan’s mediation role after the signing of the Islamabad Peace Deal, thanking Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for what he described as their sincere and skilful efforts in the process.

The appreciation came during a telephone conversation between President Pezeshkian and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday afternoon. The call lasted for more than thirty minutes and marked the first direct contact between the two leaders after the signing of the peace accord.

According to the details shared by officials, the Iranian president said Pakistan’s support during a difficult regional moment would be remembered by Tehran. He conveyed goodwill for the people of Pakistan and expressed interest in expanding bilateral cooperation across areas of mutual importance.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated President Pezeshkian, Iran’s leadership and the Iranian people on the agreement, saying the development could help restore peace in the region.
