Bahrain FM Praises Pakistan Role in Iran-US Diplomacy

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar received a telephone call from Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani on Thursday, as regional governments continued to respond to the Islamabad-linked understanding between the United States and Iran.

The conversation focused on the recently signed Iran-US memorandum and Pakistan’s diplomatic role in encouraging dialogue between two rival states after weeks of regional uncertainty. The call also gave Islamabad another opportunity to present itself as a constructive regional actor working for stability rather than escalation.

During the exchange, Bahrain’s foreign minister congratulated Dar on the signing of the Islamabad MoU and appreciated Pakistan’s role in helping facilitate communication between Washington and Tehran. Both sides viewed the development as an important step toward reducing tensions in a region that directly affects global energy routes, maritime security and Muslim-majority countries.

The two foreign ministers expressed hope that the arrangement would contribute to longer-term peace and stability. The latest contact follows a series of international messages highlighting Pakistan’s mediation role in the Iran-US understanding. For Islamabad, such calls are significant because they help reinforce the country’s foreign-policy position at a time when it is seeking economic stability, stronger investment confidence and improved diplomatic space.

The Gulf region remains highly important for Pakistan because of energy imports, remittances, trade routes and the employment of Pakistani workers abroad.
