PSX Jumps 1,934 Points as KSE-100 Rally Gains Momentum

Pakistan Stock Exchange extended its recovery on Wednesday as the benchmark KSE-100 index climbed sharply during intraday trading, gaining 1,934.74 points and reaching 164,831.42 points. The rally placed the market back in national focus, making it one of the most important business developments of the day for investors, brokers and economic observers.

The rise came from a previous close of 162,896.68 points, reflecting a strong return of buying momentum after days of pressure on equities. The move showed that investors were willing to re-enter the market as sentiment improved across major counters and confidence returned following recent volatility.

According to the market report, the KSE-100 had already begun the session on a positive note, rising modestly shortly after the opening bell. By 9:39am, the index had moved to 162,940.75 points, and as trading progressed, the upward trend strengthened further, supported by buying interest in key sectors.

The report also noted that by around 1:44pm, the benchmark index was trading at 163,611.87 points, up 715.19 points at that stage. Later movement pushed the market higher, taking the gain beyond 1,900 points during intraday trade and reinforcing the impression of a broad recovery phase.

The bullish performance followed Tuesday’s rebound, when the PSX ended a seven-session losing streak by gaining 1,091.66 points. That earlier recovery appears to have helped reset investor mood and created space for another strong session, especially after buyers returned to stocks that had come under selling pressure in previous days.

Market sentiment was also helped by encouraging signals linked to ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran. Easing concerns over regional tensions appeared to support investor confidence, as geopolitical uncertainty has recently remained a major factor for energy markets, regional economies and equity investors.

The index touched an intraday high of 163,814.63 and a low of 162,895.74 during the session, showing that the market held above the previous close despite early fluctuations. Such movement suggests that buying remained steady rather than being limited to a brief opening surge.

For Pakistan’s economy, a strong stock market session can improve short-term confidence among investors, businesses and financial institutions. While equity market gains do not by themselves solve wider economic challenges, they often reflect expectations about policy direction, corporate earnings, inflation trends and external stability.

The next focus will be whether the PSX can maintain this recovery in coming sessions or whether profit-taking returns after two strong trading days. Investors are expected to closely watch regional diplomacy, currency movement, interest-rate expectations and upcoming economic signals before deciding whether the current rally can turn into a sustained upward trend.
