Pishin Checkpost Attack Kills Police Constable in Balochistan

A police constable was martyred in a terrorist attack on a checkpost in Balochistan’s Pishin district on Monday evening, adding to a series of recent assaults targeting law-enforcement personnel in the province. The attack took place in the Killi Harmezai area, where armed assailants opened fire on a police position before escaping from the scene.

According to police sources, the attackers fired indiscriminately at the checkpost in the Harmezai region. Hawaldar Nematullah sustained critical injuries during the assault and was shifted to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment, but he later succumbed to his wounds.

Security forces responded by cordoning off the surrounding area soon after the firing. A search operation was launched to trace the attackers, who managed to flee shortly after carrying out the attack. Authorities are expected to examine possible escape routes and gather intelligence from the area as part of the investigation.

Senior police officials reached the hospital after the incident and expressed condolences to the bereaved family. Police described Hawaldar Nematullah as a committed member of the force and said those responsible for the attack would be pursued under the law.

The attack has renewed concern over the security situation in Balochistan, where police stations, checkposts and security patrols have repeatedly come under militant fire. Such incidents place frontline personnel under constant pressure, especially in districts where law-enforcement presence is vital for maintaining public order and protecting local communities.
