Rawalpindi weighs anti-drone shield for high-risk sensitive sites

Authorities in Rawalpindi are considering stronger security arrangements at sensitive locations, including the wider use of anti-drone systems and protective weapons at sites associated with Chinese projects. The proposal emerged during a Regional Coordination Committee meeting chaired by Regional Police Officer Khalid Hamdani.

Officials reviewed the city’s security environment against the backdrop of recent regional developments and recommended extending anti-drone coverage to key workplaces and residential zones linked to Chinese nationals. Some such systems are already operating at selected locations, with additional deployment now under consideration.

The meeting also led to directions for a fresh security audit of housing societies, verification of employees and private guards, and more robust intelligence-based monitoring. The move signals a tightening of urban security planning as authorities seek to reduce risks around strategically important sites.
