Pakistan asks public to save fuel as Middle East tensions rise

Pakistan's federal government has urged citizens to conserve petrol and diesel as regional instability raises concern about possible pressure on fuel supplies. The appeal was issued after a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad to review the economic outlook and petroleum availability in light of the worsening Middle East situation.

During the meeting, officials stressed the need for carpooling, limiting unnecessary travel and preparing public institutions for any emergency response that may be required if regional conditions worsen further. The prime minister directed all relevant departments to stay ready and asked for a coordinated contingency plan to be developed with the provinces.

The government said national petroleum reserves remain sufficient for now, but warned that additional conservation steps may become necessary if the broader regional crisis continues to disrupt supply routes or market stability.
