SECP proposes PSX access for partnerships and AOPs

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan has proposed regulatory changes that would make it easier for partnerships, associations of persons and limited liability partnerships to access the stock market after converting into corporate entities. The proposal was issued through a consultation paper released on March 18.

Under the suggested framework, eligible businesses would be allowed to use their historical financial and operational track record when applying for a public offering after conversion. The regulator says the idea is to reduce barriers for established private businesses and help them raise growth capital through a more formal route.

The SECP has also tied the proposal to stronger disclosure and audit requirements, signaling that broader market access would still be paired with investor protection standards. If adopted, the reforms could widen Pakistan’s corporate pipeline and support deeper development of the local capital market.
