Punjab orders Eid fare crackdown at bus terminals

Punjab has ordered a province-wide operation against transporters accused of charging excessive fares during the Eid travel period. The directive was issued by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz as passenger traffic intensifies across bus stands and intercity routes.

According to the report, district administrations and transport authorities have been told to enforce officially notified fares, monitor ticket sales and act against black marketing. Officials were also instructed to display fare lists prominently and keep close watch on transport operations during the holiday rush.

The government has paired the enforcement push with service-related instructions, including arrangements for iftar, better seating and improved cleanliness at terminals. The broader aim is to reduce passenger exploitation and restore order during one of the busiest travel windows of the year.
