Punjab announces extended Eid holidays across province

The Punjab government has announced public holidays for Eid ul Fitr 2026, extending the break for many residents when combined with the weekend and the March 23 public holiday. The notification, issued by the Services and General Administration Department, states that March 19, 20 and 21 will be observed as Eid holidays across the province.

With Sunday immediately following and Pakistan Day on Monday, many people in Punjab are now set for a five-day holiday stretch. The government has directed that the decision be publicized through major English and Urdu newspapers as well as electronic media to ensure broad awareness.

The development comes as official attention remains focused on Eid arrangements and moon-sighting expectations. Authorities have noted that the final call on Eid will still rest with the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, even though scientific assessments suggest the holiday period is likely to align with the announced schedule.
