Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif told Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman that Pakistan would stand by the Kingdom during a period of heightened regional strain. During a brief visit to Jeddah, the two leaders reviewed the fast-changing Middle East situation, regional security concerns and the need for close coordination.
According to Geo News, the prime minister also conveyed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s longstanding support for Pakistan and stressed that Islamabad would continue working with Riyadh for peace and stability in the region. Senior Pakistani officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, were present during the engagement.
Both sides agreed to remain in close contact as tensions continue to affect the wider region. After the meeting, the prime minister returned to Pakistan.
