Nadra has clarified that digital identity cards carry the same legal standing as physical Computerised National Identity Cards, stressing that citizens should not be forced to present hard copies where digital credentials are available.
The authority said some public and private institutions continue to insist on physical cards or photocopies despite regulations that recognise digital identity documents as valid proof of identity. It warned that such refusals are inconsistent with the legal framework governing digital credentials.
