All public and private educational institutions in Islamabad, including schools, colleges and universities, were ordered to remain closed for Friday under a notification issued by the district administration.

According to the notice shared by Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon, March 13, 2026, is to be observed as a public holiday for institutions located within the Islamabad Capital Territory. The order did not explain the reason behind the closure.

Geo News also reported that the move came alongside a similar holiday announcement in Sindh, where provincial offices were told to close on the same day, except for essential services.
