Punjab has revised the way practical examination marks will be awarded across its education boards, removing the long-standing authority of examiners at centres to grant full marks on their own.
Under the updated policy, the written portion of practical exams will now be assessed centrally by the relevant boards. The 30 marks assigned to practicals will be split, with centre-based examiners limited to awarding marks only for viva and practical performance.
Officials say the change is aimed at reducing recommendation-based or preferential scoring and ensuring that marks are awarded more strictly on merit. The policy will apply to practical exams in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer Studies across Punjab.
