Under the new directions, departments and subordinate offices have been told to restrict fuel consumption to essential official work, emergency response, and unavoidable field operations. Non-essential inspections, ceremonial visits, outstation trips, and unnecessary official travel have been curtailed with immediate effect.
The department also ordered government vehicles to be used strictly for official purposes, encouraged vehicle pooling where practical, and asked offices to shift internal and inter-departmental meetings to virtual platforms to reduce travel. Departments must now keep closer records of fuel allocations and vehicle usage, while senior officials have been told to promote austerity in the use of public resources.
