The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has asked citizens to exercise restraint and responsibility on social media and other digital platforms amid what it described as a sensitive national environment.
In a statement, the regulator advised the public not to share, forward or upload unverified, inflammatory or misleading information that could harm national interests, disrupt public order or undermine state institutions.
PTA encouraged users to circulate only authentic content based on official sources and to avoid spreading rumours or fabricated claims. It also warned that sharing false information may lead to legal action under applicable laws.
The advisory comes as border tensions with Afghanistan continued, with clashes reported to have entered a third day.
