Dr Punam Krishan, known for her appearances on Strictly Come Dancing and as the resident doctor on the BBC’s Morning Live, has disclosed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

In a deeply personal message shared on social media, the 42-year-old said she received the diagnosis around five months ago and described the period since as emotionally overwhelming, despite having spent nearly two decades supporting patients as a doctor.

She said she has been receiving care from NHS teams, starting with her GP and continuing through specialist breast and oncology services, and praised the medical staff for their support throughout treatment.

Krishan explained that she kept the news private while undergoing treatment, largely to protect her energy and to shield her children. She also credited her husband, family and close friends for helping her through the most difficult moments.

Urging others to stay vigilant, she said she had a strong instinct that something was wrong and encouraged people to get checked if they notice anything unusual.
