Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced that the board will operate the Multan Sultans franchise for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season, with a plan to auction the team after the tournament concludes.
Speaking to reporters in Lahore, Naqvi said the PCB aims to start PSL 11 on March 23, subject to consultation with franchises. He also named former captain Wasim Akram as the league's brand ambassador and called the January 8 auction for two new teams a pivotal moment for the competition.
Naqvi noted that ten parties have advanced to the second round of bidding for the expansion sides. He reiterated that relations with India on cricket matters would proceed on "equal footing," and said the board would raise concerns over conduct at the recent Under-19 fixtures.
Multan Sultans were introduced in 2017 and later acquired by the Tareen family after the original ownership deal was terminated. The PCB chief framed the interim operation as a practical step while the league transitions to an expanded, eight-team format.
