Ex-ISI chief Faiz Hamid gets 14-year sentence: ISPR

Pakistan’s military said a Field General Court Martial has sentenced former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hamid to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the proceedings began on August 12, 2024 under the Pakistan Army Act and concluded after 15 months.

ISPR stated the ex-general was tried on four counts, including engaging in political activities, violating the Official Secrets Act in a manner detrimental to state security, and misuse of authority and government resources, causing wrongful loss. The verdict was promulgated on December 11, 2025, and the convict retains the right to appeal at the relevant forum.

The military added that matters relating to Hamid’s alleged role in fomenting political agitation alongside political elements are being handled separately. The case stems from complaints investigated after the Supreme Court’s directions and includes allegations linked to the Top City housing society case.

Hamid, who served as ISI director-general and later Peshawar corps commander, has been a central figure in several high-profile controversies over the past decade. He was arrested in 2024, formally charged later that year, and has since faced multiple inquiries into post-retirement conduct under the Army Act.
