Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, sharply criticised the Afghan Taliban authorities for enabling India-backed militant groups, warning that Islamabad will not tolerate cross-border attacks from Afghan soil.
Speaking during an interactive session with tribal elders in Peshawar, Munir said Kabul has allowed sanctuaries for terrorists despite Pakistan’s repeated efforts to improve ties. He praised the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for their “steadfast and unconditional” support to security forces and paid tribute to their sacrifices.
The army chief said Pakistan had exercised patience for years in the face of attacks on civilians and troops, but stressed that any future infiltration would be met decisively. He also visited Headquarters 11 Corps, where he was briefed on the security environment, operational preparedness and border management.
The remarks come amid heightened counterterrorism operations in KP and along the Afghan frontier, where authorities say groups linked to the TTP and other outfits continue to mount attacks from across the border.
