Security forces killed five terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Washuk district, the military said on Thursday. The operation followed reports about the presence of militants in the area.

According to the military, the operation was conducted on the night of October 12 and 13. A hideout was identified and cleared during the operation, which resulted in the deaths of five alleged militants.

Weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the site, according to the statement. Security forces have continued sanitisation activity in the area to locate and remove any remaining threats.

The military said the operation formed part of the wider counterterrorism campaign under the Azm-e-Istehkam vision. The campaign has focused on intelligence-based actions by security forces and law-enforcement agencies in areas affected by militant violence.

Washuk has featured in several recent security operations as authorities respond to militant activity in Balochistan. The province has faced persistent security challenges, including attacks on security personnel, police and civilians.

The latest operation comes after another reported action in the same district in which five militants were killed and four others were injured. Authorities said advanced weapons and ammunition were recovered during that earlier operation.

Security agencies say they will continue operations based on intelligence to disrupt militant networks and reduce the risk of further attacks. The outcome of the ongoing sanitisation effort will determine whether additional operations are required in and around Washuk.
