Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday for a two-day visit during which he will lead Oman’s delegation at the eighth Pakistan-Oman Joint Ministerial Commission session.

The visiting foreign minister was received on arrival by the Economic Affairs Division secretary and the foreign ministry’s additional secretary for the Middle East, according to the Foreign Office. His visit comes as both countries prepare to review cooperation across a broad range of sectors.

During his stay, Albusaidi is also expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The meeting is likely to focus on political, economic and regional issues, along with steps to strengthen institutional engagement between Islamabad and Muscat.

The Foreign Office said the Joint Ministerial Commission would serve as an important platform to review the full spectrum of bilateral relations. It added that the session would help both sides strengthen cooperation in multiple areas of mutual interest.

Officials have framed the visit as a reflection of longstanding fraternal ties between Pakistan and Oman. The two countries maintain links through trade, labour movement, regional connectivity and diplomatic cooperation, making the commission an important mechanism for structured follow-up.

Preparations for the session were reviewed earlier during an inter-ministerial meeting chaired by Ishaq Dar in Islamabad. That meeting covered the agenda, bilateral agreements and arrangements for co-chairing the commission session.

The areas expected to be discussed include trade, investment, industry, agriculture, finance, oil and gas, labour, consular affairs, security, defence, climate change, civil aviation, education, media and culture. The breadth of the agenda indicates that both sides are looking beyond routine diplomacy toward practical cooperation.

Dar had earlier directed stakeholders to ensure thorough preparations and effective follow-up so the commission could produce tangible outcomes. The next phase will depend on the agreements, understandings and sector-specific commitments reached during the two-day visit.
