Pakistan sealed the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka on Sunday with a commanding 82-run victory in the second match at Pindi Stadium in Rawalpindi, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead with one game still to play.
The home side built its win around a powerful batting performance from Maaz Sadaqat and captain Sahibzada Farhan, who set up a total of 215 for 3 in 20 overs. The score was reported as a record total at the venue, going past Pakistan’s previous mark of 195 for 5 against Zimbabwe in November 2025.
Maaz was the standout performer with the bat, scoring 96 from 51 balls. His innings included seven sixes and six fours, and he narrowly missed out on a century after giving Pakistan the acceleration needed to move well beyond a competitive score.
Farhan continued his strong run in the series with another fluent half-century. He made 73 from 44 balls, hitting five sixes and four fours, and made Sri Lanka pay after being given a chance early in his innings when he was dropped on 12.
The pair added 88 runs from 48 balls for the second wicket, giving Pakistan control after Sri Lanka had won the toss and chosen to bowl first. Maaz then combined with Hasan Nawaz for a brisk 72-run third-wicket partnership, helping Pakistan add 70 runs in the final five overs.
Pakistan’s innings gathered pace steadily. The team reached 46 in the powerplay, moved to 90 for 1 after 10 overs, and stood at 145 for 2 after 15 overs before finishing strongly on a batting-friendly surface.
Sri Lanka’s chase never developed the momentum required for such a target. The visitors lost wickets regularly and were restricted to 133 for 7, with young pacer Imran Randhawa returning figures of 3 for 11 from his four overs.
The result was also described as Pakistan’s heaviest win against Sri Lanka in the format. With the series already secured, Pakistan now have room to assess their combination in the final match while Sri Lanka will be left looking for a response after being outplayed with both bat and ball.
