Pakistan advanced to the men's cricket semi-finals at the 2026 Asian Games after their quarter-final against Hong Kong, China, was abandoned because of persistent rain in Nisshin, Japan. No toss was possible at Korogi Sports Park as wet conditions prevented play from beginning.

Under the tournament qualification rules, Pakistan progressed because of their higher ICC T20I ranking. Pakistan had entered the knockout phase directly as one of Asia's four highest-ranked sides, alongside India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Hong Kong had reached the quarter-finals after finishing second in Group B. Their campaign had already been affected by weather, with another group fixture against Oman also abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Pakistan arrived in Japan after completing a four-day training camp in Karachi designed to prepare the squad for the conditions expected during the Asian Games. The team worked on different match situations before travelling for the competition.

Weather also disrupted Pakistan's preparations in Nisshin. A training session scheduled before the quarter-final was affected by overnight rain and a wet outfield, limiting the squad's opportunity to practise at the venue.

Sahibzada Farhan is leading Pakistan's 15-member squad at the tournament. The group includes several players with international T20 experience, including Saim Ayub, Abrar Ahmed, Haider Ali and Mohammad Wasim Jr, while Mike Hesson is serving as head coach.

The abandoned quarter-final means Pakistan remain in medal contention without having to complete the scheduled knockout match. Their next challenge will come in the semi-final stage, where a victory would guarantee a place in the gold-medal contest.

Pakistan's semi-final is scheduled for October 1. The bronze-medal match and the tournament final are both scheduled for October 3, leaving the side several days to prepare for the decisive phase of the competition.
