CSS 2026 Results Announced as Only 2.74% Pass Written Exam
The Federal Public Service Commission has announced the results of Pakistan's CSS 2026 written examination, with 476 candidates clearing the highly competitive stage and an overall success rate of 2.74 percent. The result immediately drew attention because of the small proportion of successful candidates compared with the thousands who entered the examination process.
According to figures released with the results, 24,321 candidates applied for the Central Superior Services examination. Of that total, 17,351 candidates appeared in at least one written paper, while 16,342 completed all of the required papers. The 476 candidates who passed include 239 men and 237 women, showing an almost even gender distribution among those who qualified for the next stage.
The written examinations were conducted from February 4 to February 15, 2026. Passing the written component does not itself guarantee appointment to the federal civil services, as successful candidates must still complete additional stages of the competitive selection process before final allocations are determined.
The CSS process began earlier with the Multiple Choice Questions Preliminary Test, commonly known as the MPT. The FPSC figures show that 63,368 candidates applied for the preliminary examination, 43,189 appeared, and 36,758 qualified to move forward. The sharp reduction in numbers by the written-result stage highlights the increasingly selective nature of the examination as candidates progress through successive requirements.
The FPSC has made the list of successful written-examination candidates available through its official website. Those who have qualified will next undergo medical examinations, psychological assessments and interviews, including the viva voce stage. The commission has not yet announced the schedule for those remaining assessments, and candidates are expected to monitor official FPSC communications for further instructions.
The CSS examination is one of Pakistan's principal recruitment mechanisms for appointments to federal occupational groups and services. Each year, the process attracts thousands of graduates seeking careers in the country's civil administration, but only candidates who successfully complete every required stage and secure sufficient merit can ultimately receive allocations.
The 2.74 percent written-pass rate will now place attention on the upcoming medical, psychological and interview stages, where the pool will be assessed further before final merit positions are prepared. The near-equal number of successful male and female candidates is also a notable feature of this year's written result, with only two candidates separating the two groups.
The next major development will be the FPSC's announcement of assessment and interview schedules. After those stages are completed, final results and service allocations will determine which candidates enter Pakistan's federal civil services under the CSS 2026 recruitment cycle.
