Zardari, Shehbaz Urge Nation to Follow Prophet's Teachings
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday called on Pakistanis to reflect the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) in their personal and collective lives as the country marked Eid Miladun Nabi. In separate messages, the two leaders extended greetings to the people of Pakistan and Muslims around the world on the occasion commemorating the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
President Zardari said the occasion carried a message of faith, guidance, justice, mercy and high moral character. He urged citizens to promote fairness, tolerance, inter-sectarian harmony, interfaith understanding and respect for human dignity. The president said these principles were essential for building a society rooted in justice and social responsibility.
He also stressed the importance of protecting the rights of vulnerable people, including the poor, orphans and other disadvantaged sections of society. According to the president, following the example of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) required Muslims to demonstrate compassion and responsibility in everyday conduct rather than limiting observance to ceremonial expressions.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif similarly said the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) provided enduring guidance for humanity. He highlighted compassion, justice, tolerance, unity and service to others as values that should shape both individual behaviour and national life. The prime minister said Pakistan could better address its economic, social and moral challenges by grounding collective conduct in Islamic principles.
Shehbaz also called on citizens to work toward making Pakistan a peaceful, prosperous and welfare-oriented state. In a public message, he urged people to align their character and social responsibilities with Seeratun Nabi and to contribute to national unity and stability. He said the occasion should encourage people to renew their commitment to mutual respect and service to society.
Eid Miladun Nabi is observed by Muslims on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Across Pakistan, the day is marked with religious gatherings, processions, recitation, illumination of buildings and public messages focused on the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Authorities also typically implement security and traffic arrangements around major events and processions.
The messages from the president and prime minister came as the country observed the religious occasion amid broader economic, political and social challenges. Their emphasis on tolerance, justice and unity reflected an appeal for social cohesion and responsible public conduct.
