Hina Javed Post-Mortem Reveals Multiple Injuries as Probe Deepens

RAWALPINDI: The post-mortem examination of Hina Javed, whose body was discovered at her home in Rawalpindi’s Lalkurti area, has documented multiple injuries as investigators continue efforts to establish the exact cause and circumstances of her death. The medical findings have added a significant new dimension to the case, while forensic testing remains pending.

According to the post-mortem report, Hina suffered a fractured neck bone along with injury marks on her ribs and hip bone. The report also recorded that her pericardium and heart contained blood. Despite these findings, doctors were not able to conclusively determine the cause of death during the initial examination, making laboratory and forensic results central to the next stage of the investigation.

The examination was conducted by Dr Maria Khalid around 12 hours after Hina’s death. DNA samples were collected from the body and sent to a laboratory, while additional specimens were dispatched for forensic analysis. Lady Constable Rafia Tabassum handled the collection of samples for the post-mortem and subsequent testing, according to the report cited by The Nation.

Hina’s body had been found in a bathroom at her residence in Lalkurti, an area falling within the jurisdiction of Rawalpindi’s Civil Lines police station. Police subsequently arrested her husband, Faisal Asghar, and his employee Zeeshan on suspicion of involvement in her death. Authorities have said Hina had been married to Asghar for approximately nine months.

Investigators had initially informed the examining doctor that Hina had allegedly been hanged by her husband. The medical findings, however, have prompted continued scrutiny because the post-mortem recorded injuries to several parts of the body while stopping short of establishing a definitive cause of death. Investigators will therefore have to reconcile the physical evidence, forensic results and statements gathered during the inquiry before reaching final conclusions.

The two arrested suspects were produced before a local magistrate, where police sought their physical remand for further questioning. The investigating officer told the court that a rope and wire allegedly used in the incident had been recovered from the suspects. The magistrate approved the request and sent Faisal Asghar and Zeeshan into police custody on a three-day physical remand. Police have also included Asghar’s father in the investigation and recorded his statement.

The case is now expected to depend heavily on the pending forensic and DNA reports, which could help investigators clarify the mechanism and cause of Hina’s death and assess the evidence collected from the scene and suspects. Police questioning during the remand period, together with the laboratory findings, will shape the next legal steps and determine whether investigators are able to establish a more complete sequence of events surrounding the death.
