Pakistan Opens Private Hajj 2027 Payments Through Official Digital Portal
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Ministry of Religious Affairs has begun the payment process for applicants under the Private Hajj Scheme 2027, directing intending pilgrims to complete bookings and financial transactions through official digital channels. The ministry has advised applicants to use the Hajj Portal and Pak Hajj App when selecting an authorised organiser and package, as preparations for next year's pilgrimage move into another important phase.
Under the procedure announced by the ministry, applicants can choose an authorised Hajj organiser and select an available package through the government's digital system. The ministry has made clear that private Hajj companies are not permitted to collect pilgrims' payments directly. Instead, payments are to be processed through the official Hajj Portal, creating a formal transaction record within the government's system.
Authorities have issued a warning to pilgrims against handing over money to unauthorised agents, intermediaries or other individuals claiming they can arrange bookings outside the approved process. Applicants have also been advised not to make direct cash or cheque payments to Hajj organisers. The ministry said pilgrims could bear responsibility for financial losses resulting from transactions conducted outside authorised channels, making verification of organisers an important step before any payment is made.
The latest arrangements apply to applicants already registered under the private scheme as well as people seeking to complete fresh registration. Those already registered can use the portal to select their preferred Hajj company and package, while new registrations remain available through the Hajj Portal and Pak Hajj App. According to the ministry, 71,696 pilgrims have been allocated places under the Private Hajj Scheme 2027.
Pakistan's preparations for Hajj 2027 began months before the pilgrimage, reflecting an effort to complete administrative and financial arrangements well ahead of Saudi deadlines. The Ministry of Religious Affairs previously opened Hajj 2027 registration in June and later issued provisional recognition documents for eligible private-sector operators. Its official Hajj information services also allow intending pilgrims to verify recognised companies and obtain updates through the Pak Hajj application.
The government has separately developed a broader Hajj policy covering the 2027-2030 period, while the Religious Affairs Ministry has continued publishing official notices covering registration, approved operators and application procedures. Officials have emphasised the importance of using government-recognised platforms as more aspects of the Hajj process shift to digital systems, particularly where bookings and large financial payments are involved.
The payment announcement is significant for thousands of Pakistani families planning the pilgrimage because it establishes the approved route for transferring funds and selecting private packages. Centralising payments through the official system is also intended to provide greater visibility over transactions and reduce the risk of applicants dealing with unverified operators. Pilgrims are expected to carefully check the status of their selected organiser before confirming arrangements.
The next stage will involve applicants completing their package selections and payments in line with the ministry's instructions while private organisers proceed with operational preparations. Further deadlines and guidance are expected to be communicated through the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Hajj Portal and the Pak Hajj App. Authorities have urged intending pilgrims to rely on those official channels for updates rather than informal agents or unverified information circulating elsewhere.
