Rawalpindi Woman's Death Sparks Outrage as Husband, Worker Arrested

Police in Rawalpindi have arrested the husband of a 45-year-old woman and a domestic worker after she was found dead under disturbing circumstances inside her home in the Lal Kurti area. The victim, identified as Hina Javed, was discovered in a bathroom with her hands tied behind her back, prompting police to register a murder case and begin an investigation into allegations of torture and domestic abuse.

The case was registered at Civil Lines police station following a complaint submitted by Hina's brother. Police subsequently detained her husband, Faisal Asghar, and a domestic worker identified as Zeeshan. Hina's father-in-law, Asghar Ali Fayyaz, has also been nominated in the First Information Report, while the victim's family has called for authorities to arrest him and investigate his alleged role in the case.

According to details recorded in the FIR, Hina was found inside the bathroom with her hands restrained behind her back. A piece of cloth had allegedly been placed in her mouth and a wire was found around her neck. Her brother told investigators that he went to the residence after receiving a telephone call from Hina's father-in-law informing him that an emergency had occurred at the house.

When family members reached the residence, they found Hina dead. The complainant alleged that she had been subjected to severe physical abuse before her death. The family has also raised the possibility that she may have been given a poisonous substance and alleged that an attempt could have been made to present her death as a suicide. These claims remain allegations under investigation and have not yet been established by a court.

Hina had married Faisal Asghar in November 2025. The FIR also refers to allegations that she had experienced violence and mistreatment during the marriage. It further states that Faisal's previous marriage had ended in divorce amid allegations of domestic violence and mistreatment. Investigators are expected to examine these claims as part of the wider inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Hina's death.

Police have collected evidence from the residence and said the case is being investigated from multiple angles. A post-mortem examination has also been reported, with its findings expected to provide important forensic evidence about the precise cause of death and whether poisoning, strangulation, physical assault or other factors were involved. The forensic findings could play a central role in determining the sequence of events and the potential responsibility of those named in the case.

The case has generated significant public attention, with calls for justice spreading online as details of Hina's death emerged. Her family has appealed to Punjab Police and other authorities for an impartial investigation free from pressure or influence. They have stressed that all individuals found to have participated in or facilitated any crime should be held accountable through the legal process.

The investigation will now focus on forensic evidence, statements from the detained suspects, the victim's previous complaints or history of alleged abuse and the role of every person named in the FIR. Police are also expected to determine whether the scene was manipulated to create a misleading impression about the manner of death. Until investigators complete the inquiry and prosecutors present evidence, the allegations against those named in the case remain subject to Pakistan's criminal justice process.
