Pakistan Gold Prices Jump Rs13,700 Per Tola
KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan rose sharply on Thursday as local bullion rates followed a steep increase in the international market, adding fresh pressure on jewellery buyers and investors tracking safe-haven assets.
According to rates issued by the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association, the price of 24-karat gold increased by Rs13,700 per tola to reach Rs471,936. The previous session’s rate stood at Rs458,236 per tola.
The price of 24-karat gold per 10 grams also climbed significantly, rising by Rs11,746 to Rs404,609. The movement reflects how quickly international price changes are transmitted into Pakistan’s domestic bullion market.
Internationally, gold jumped by $137 per ounce to $4,495, compared with $4,358 in the previous session. The global rally was linked to geopolitical uncertainty and investor concern over tensions in the Middle East.
Silver also moved upward in the local market. Its price rose by Rs369 per tola to Rs7,169, showing that the broader precious-metals market remained under the influence of global risk sentiment.
The surge comes as investors continue to watch tensions involving Iran and the United States. Markets often turn to gold during periods of conflict, currency uncertainty or fear of financial instability, which can push prices higher even when consumer demand is weak.
For households in Pakistan, higher gold rates directly affect wedding-related purchases and jewellery buying. For investors, the latest jump strengthens gold’s role as a store of value at a time when currency, inflation and international-market risks remain important concerns.
Jewellers and traders are likely to see cautious buying because prices have moved to levels that may discourage ordinary consumers. At the same time, investors holding bullion may benefit from valuation gains if international prices remain elevated.
The next direction for local gold prices will depend on global bullion trends, exchange-rate movements and whether geopolitical tensions ease or intensify. Until market uncertainty settles, Pakistan’s gold rates are expected to remain highly sensitive to international developments.
