Punjab Schools to Reopen August 24 as Holiday Extension Ruled Out

The Punjab government has ruled out any extension in summer holidays for schools, confirming that educational institutions across the province will reopen on August 24 as already scheduled. The clarification was issued on Tuesday in Lahore after speculation about a possible extension circulated among parents, students and school communities.

According to the latest update, all public and private schools in Punjab are expected to resume academic activity on the announced date. The decision gives families, teachers and school administrations a clear timeline after weeks of uncertainty linked to weather conditions, public discussion and social media rumours.

Secretary Schools Mudassar Riaz stated that no decision had been taken to prolong the vacation period. He advised parents not to rely on unverified reports suggesting that the holidays might be pushed forward beyond the existing reopening schedule.

Officials have also directed school administrations to complete essential preparations before students return to classrooms. These preparations include cleaning work, security arrangements and other measures required to make campuses ready after the long summer break.

The School Education Department has specifically instructed schools to ensure cleanliness on rooftops, inside water tanks and around drainage systems.
