Hania Case Deepens as Father Challenges Initial Police FIR
The death case of nine-year-old Australian national Hania Ahmed has taken a significant turn in Chakwal after her father formally challenged the initial police version of events, raising serious questions about the way the case was first recorded and investigated.
According to details reported from Chakwal, Hania’s father, Adil Ahmed, submitted an application to the District Police Officer in which he claimed that the first information report did not accurately reflect what happened during the incident. The development has pushed the case back into the public spotlight and intensified calls for a transparent review.
Adil Ahmed alleged that the firing that killed his daughter was not carried out by robbers, as initially described in the FIR. He maintained that his daughter died due to direct firing by a police constable, a claim that, if proven, could fundamentally alter the direction of the investigation.
In his application, Hania’s father also accused a sub-inspector of wrongly inserting the claim that robbers opened fire during the robbery. He said the official narrative created during the early stage of the case did not match the facts known to the family and required immediate correction by senior police authorities.
The incident dates back to June 10, when Hania Ahmed was killed while her father and 11-year-old brother, Affan Ahmed, were injured near the Crime Control Department police station in Chakwal during what was initially described as an attempted robbery. The case drew public attention because of the victim’s age, her overseas nationality and the involvement of law enforcement personnel in the surrounding circumstances.
Adil Ahmed further alleged that after he was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in an injured condition, he faced inappropriate conduct from a constable posted at the police facilitation counter. He also claimed that police officials later pressured him into signing and thumb-printing a blank paper before he was allowed to receive medical treatment.
The father stated that after the funeral, he met the investigating officer and came to believe that the shooting had been caused by a police official rather than by armed robbers. This assertion has added pressure on authorities to revisit the evidence, review the FIR and determine whether the earlier account was incomplete or misleading.
The case has wider implications for public trust in policing and criminal investigations in Pakistan. When families accuse investigators of misrepresenting facts, the matter goes beyond one FIR and raises broader concerns about accountability, evidence handling and the protection of citizens during law enforcement operations.
