Karachi Police Encounter Leaves Suspected Dacoit Dead
Karachi police said on Friday that one suspected robber was killed during an encounter in the city’s Central District, while two alleged accomplices escaped after an exchange of fire with law-enforcement personnel. The incident took place within the limits of Samanabad police station and later ended near North Nazimabad.
According to the police account, personnel of the Shaheen Force Samanabad signalled three suspicious motorcyclists to stop during routine checking. Instead of stopping, the suspects allegedly opened fire at the police team and tried to flee from the area.
Police said the officers chased the suspects as they moved toward North Nazimabad. The pursuit reportedly ended near the Byco petrol pump in Block D, where a second exchange of gunfire occurred between the police team and the suspected criminals.
Officials said one suspect was killed during the encounter, while two others managed to escape from the scene. Police also claimed to have recovered a weapon and the motorcycle allegedly used by the deceased suspect.
The body was shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities, where identification and further procedural work were expected to be completed. Police said investigators would also examine the recovered motorcycle and weapon as part of the case record.
The report attributed the account to SSP Central and said the encounter was linked to police action against suspected street criminals operating in the area. Further details about the identity of the deceased suspect and the escaped accomplices were not immediately available.
