Gull Feroza Century Powers Pakistan to ODI Series Sweep
Pakistan women completed a commanding 3-0 ODI series sweep over Zimbabwe in Karachi after opener Gull Feroza produced a record-breaking unbeaten century at the National Bank Stadium. The hosts chased down a 223-run target with nine wickets in hand, sealing the final match in only 31.5 overs and ending the series with another dominant performance.
The victory was built around Pakistan’s opening pair, as Gull Feroza and Sadaf Shamas took control of the chase from the first phase of the innings. Their aggressive start immediately pushed Zimbabwe onto the defensive, with the pair punishing loose deliveries and keeping the required run rate under complete control.
Gull remained the standout performer of the night, scoring 106 not out from 92 balls with 16 boundaries. Her innings carried historic value as she reached her hundred in just 83 deliveries, breaking her own record for the fastest ODI century by a Pakistan women’s batter only days after setting the earlier mark in the same series.
Sadaf Shamas provided equally important support with a fluent 90 from 98 balls, striking 13 boundaries before Zimbabwe finally managed to claim a wicket when Pakistan were already on the verge of victory. Her partnership with Gull effectively ended the contest long before the final runs were scored.
Gull’s performance earned her both player-of-the-match and player-of-the-series honours. The recognition reflected not only one innings but a full series of impact batting, consistency and attacking intent at the top of the order.
Earlier, Zimbabwe had chosen to bat first and recovered from an early wobble to reach 222 for nine. Beloved Biza scored 73 and Kelis Ndhlovu added 51, giving the visitors a platform after they had slipped to 22 for two in the opening overs.
Pakistan’s bowlers, however, prevented Zimbabwe from turning that recovery into a bigger total. Tasmia Rubab claimed three wickets, while Syeda Aroob Shah and Ayesha Zafar also made important breakthroughs to keep the visitors under pressure through the middle and late stages of the innings.
The result carried added significance because Pakistan climbed to second place in the ICC Women’s Championship 2025-29 table with eight points from six matches. For a side trying to strengthen its global standing, a clean sweep at home provides momentum, confidence and valuable qualification points.
The series win also marked only the third time Pakistan women have completed a 3-0 sweep in a bilateral ODI series, following previous clean sweeps over Sri Lanka and Ireland. With improved batting depth and sharper execution, Pakistan will now look to build on this performance as they prepare for tougher assignments in the championship cycle.
