Schools and universities reopen in Islamabad and Rawalpindi

Educational institutions in Islamabad and Rawalpindi resumed operations on Wednesday after an extended closure linked to austerity and fuel-conservation measures.

A notification issued by the Federal Directorate of Education said institutions under its administrative control would restart academic activity and admissions from April 1, while the new academic session would begin physically on April 6. Programmes at the BS level were cleared to resume in-person classes immediately.

The Higher Education Commission issued a similar direction for universities and degree-awarding institutions. In Rawalpindi, schools and colleges reopened after a 21-day break, ending a shutdown that had been imposed in response to the fuel crisis and broader pressure on public resources.
