LPG prices surge in Pakistan for April

Pakistan's oil and gas regulator has raised the official price of liquefied petroleum gas for April, setting the new rate at Rs304.12 per kilogramme from April 1. The increase means an 11.8kg domestic cylinder will now cost Rs3,588.59, adding another burden for households already coping with elevated energy expenses.

According to the regulator's notification, the producer price has been fixed at Rs262,817.53 per tonne, inclusive of applicable taxes and levy, while the producer cost of a standard household cylinder has been calculated at Rs3,101.25. The revision comes after earlier fuel price shocks and reflects broader stress in energy markets.

The price increase follows a period of volatility linked to regional conflict and pressure on oil and gas supply routes. The latest adjustment is expected to feed into household inflation and raise transport and kitchen fuel costs in the coming weeks.
