Heavy rain floods twin cities, temperatures drop sharply

Heavy rain and strong winds battered Rawalpindi and Islamabad, sending temperatures down and inundating several low-lying neighbourhoods across the twin cities.

Dawn reported that roads in busy commercial and downtown areas were submerged or turned slushy, slowing traffic and complicating movement in construction-hit zones. Areas near Leh Nullah were also affected as water accumulated after repeated spells of rain.

The Met Office recorded substantial rainfall at multiple stations in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Murree, and warned that more rain could follow. Officials also cautioned that flash floods, hailstorms and related weather damage remain possible, keeping local administrations on alert.
