OGDC finds new gas reserves in Khairpur, boosting energy hopes
OGDC has announced a fresh gas discovery at the Sahito-1 exploratory well in Sindh's Khairpur district, calling it another step toward strengthening Pakistan's domestic energy base.
According to the company, testing in the Lower Goru Formation produced around 17.2 million standard cubic feet per day of gas, along with strong wellhead pressure readings that point to encouraging reservoir potential. The find follows closely after the start of production at another field, underlining an active phase of upstream energy development.
The discovery is being seen as important for a country that continues to face recurring supply constraints and import dependence. If commercial output is sustained, the field could help narrow Pakistan's energy gap and support efforts to improve indigenous resource availability.
