Gunmen rob Karachi college students aboard parked bus

A robbery targeting female students on a college bus in Karachi has renewed concern over the city’s street crime situation. Police said three armed men riding a motorbike allegedly boarded a bus parked outside Jinnah Medical and Dental College and looted students before escaping.

According to the case registered at New Town police station, the suspects snatched a gold chain, mobile phones and cash from the victims. Statements from affected students have been recorded, while police are trying to secure CCTV footage from the area.

Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho took notice of the incident and sought a report from the Karachi additional IG. He also ordered the immediate arrest of those involved and warned of action against the police officials responsible if negligence is found.

The case has again highlighted persistent public frustration over Karachi’s crime wave, particularly repeated incidents of snatching and theft despite surveillance claims and policing pledges.
