Pakistan’s telecom operators switch on 300+ 5G sites
Pakistan’s telecom sector has taken another step toward next-generation connectivity, with more than 300 5G sites now active in Islamabad and other parts of the country.
Officials cited by ProPakistani said Jazz has switched on 180 sites while Zong has activated 150. Some of the newly live locations include high-priority areas such as the Red Zone, Blue Area, and Parliament Lodges. Ufone is expected to follow after bringing in the required equipment and devices.
The rollout comes after the recent spectrum auction and is expected to improve both 5G access and broader 4G service quality. Regulators have also required operators to publish their service coverage information on official platforms.
Authorities said a full stabilization of the 5G network may take around two years. In the meantime, device compatibility and pending software support from major phone brands will affect how quickly users can experience the service at scale.
