Karachi weather today: PMD rules out rain, bigger spell ahead

Karachi is now expected to stay dry for the rest of Wednesday despite an earlier forecast that had suggested drizzle or light rain in some parts of the city. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, skies are presently clear to mostly sunny, and no rainfall is likely later in the day even if cloud cover increases.

PMD Deputy Director Anjum Nazeer said sunshine is expected for several hours, while partly cloudy to cloudy conditions may develop afterward without producing rain. Earlier official guidance had projected a chance of light precipitation over the next 24 hours under the influence of a western weather system.

The department said the city’s temperature could rise to around 32°C, while the minimum was recorded at 24.5°C and humidity stood at 84%. Officials also warned that weather conditions may begin shifting from Thursday, with Karachi’s outskirts likely to receive light to moderate rain and gusty winds.

A stronger spell is expected on March 28 and 29, when heavy showers, thunderstorms and possible hail may affect the city and surrounding areas. The Sindh PDMA has already placed staff on alert and ordered preparedness measures, including readying machinery and field teams for any emergency response.
