President Zardari tells govt to shield public from fuel burden

President Asif Ali Zardari has directed the government to ensure that the burden of petroleum prices on ordinary citizens remains as low as possible.

During a meeting with federal ministers, the president said public relief must remain a priority in policymaking. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed him on counterterrorism operations and the situation along the borders.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik also gave a briefing on key economic indicators and government measures related to petroleum products. The meeting further reviewed Pakistan-Afghanistan tensions and broader regional security challenges.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah were also present. The discussion reflected growing official concern over inflationary pressure and the impact of global energy instability on Pakistan’s economy.
