PMD issues rain and flash-flood alert across multiple regions
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned of widespread rain, thunderstorms and isolated heavy falls across several parts of the country between March 24 and March 30. The alert links the expected weather to a western disturbance approaching southwestern Balochistan before intensifying later in the week.
Forecast areas include Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. The PMD said some locations may also experience hailstorms, while snowfall is expected in hilly regions.
The department further warned that heavy downpours could trigger flash floods in parts of Balochistan from March 25 to 28 and in local streams and nullahs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from March 28 to 30. Landslide risk has also been flagged for vulnerable upper areas, making this one of the more significant national weather alerts of the day.
