Pakistan launches GeoAI climate platform via Suparco

Pakistan’s space agency Suparco has launched the Space4Climate Initiative, introducing a GeoAI-based climate observatory aimed at improving the country’s environmental monitoring and resilience planning.

According to the report, the platform combines satellite imagery, geospatial analysis and predictive modelling to produce practical insights for policymakers, researchers and local communities. It is designed to track atmospheric pollutants, greenhouse gases, forests, glaciers, coasts, rivers and land-use changes across Pakistan.

The initiative will also monitor climate-related hazards including floods, droughts, heatwaves, sea-level rise and glacial lake outburst floods. By integrating satellite observations with ground-based data, the system is intended to support early warning, preparedness and evidence-driven planning as Pakistan faces mounting climate risks.
