Pakistan marks Eid with nationwide prayers and calls for unity

Pakistan observed Eid ul Fitr across the country with congregational prayers at mosques, Eidgahs and open grounds, as families gathered to celebrate the end of Ramadan. Sermons focused on the spiritual meaning of Eid, the values of patience and sacrifice, and the importance of charity and social solidarity.

The celebrations unfolded with traditional rituals, including prayers, family visits, festive meals and the distribution of Eidi to children. Acts of charity remained central, with worshippers encouraged to support vulnerable households through Zakat ul Fitr and other donations.

President Asif Ali Zardari said the occasion should renew national commitment to unity, constitutional order and collective responsibility. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also urged citizens to strengthen harmony, compassion and service to humanity, while expressing concern for people affected by conflict in the Middle East.

The armed forces leadership, through ISPR, also conveyed Eid greetings and said the festival reflects unity, gratitude and compassion, while paying tribute to personnel serving away from their families to safeguard the country.
